Mushroom sauce is not always made with gluten free ingredients. If you have a gluten allergy, or have celiac disease, it is important to check the ingredients prior to eating mushroom sauce. Mushroom sauce may contain worcheshire sauce, which contains barley and barley is not gluten free. Fortunately, there is a gluten free mushroom sauce that is fantastic!
What you’ll need:
- 8 oz mushrooms
- 1 tbsp butter
- ½ onion diced
- 1 tbsp dried Thyme
- 2 Garlic cloves diced
- ½ Cup chicken broth
- ⅔ cups heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup parmesan cheese
- 4 tbsp fresh parsley
- Gluten free flour to thicken (For thick paste as opposed to dripping suace.)
Instructions
- Heat pan on medium heat, add 1 tbsp butter
- Sautee ½ diced onions in butter
- Add 8 oz mushrooms, cook until mushrooms start releasing water
- Add 1 tbsp dried thyme and 2 diced garlic cloves
- Mix and let cook for 3 mins
- Add ½ cup chicken broth and ⅔ cup heavy whipping cream
- Cook on medium to low heat until sauce begins to boil
- Add ½ cup parmesan
- Stir on low to medium heat
- Add more parmesan as preferred
- Top with fresh parsley
- To thicken, add gluten free flour. Adding gluten free flour will create a paste as opposed to a dripping sauce. The steak is topped with gluten free mushroom sauce that had breading to thicken the sauce. Without the gluten free bread, the gluten free mushroom sauce will have a watery consistency.
